Selena Gomez Named in $1 Million Lawsuit; Band Claims She Ripped Off Song Chorus

Selena Gomez has been named in a $1 million lawsuit that claims her 2010 hit "A Year Without Rain" features a chorus that's "virtually identical" to the band Luce’s 2005 track "Buy A Dog." The plaintiffs are four songwriters -- Tom Luce, Brian Kroll, Matt Blackett and Lawrence Riggs -- who allege that Gomez and her band (The Scene) lifted the Luce song's chorus for "A Year Without Rain," which became the title track of Gomez's second studio album.
